Profile

Shonda L. Tompkins
American Evangelist and Vice-President of PMI

"At this particular season in my life, I feel God has moved me into the area of 'Empowering women and teenage girls'. Teaching through the Word and through my actions, that God loves them regardless of their past mistakes, regardless of the way they feel or see themselves when they look into a mirror; Empowering them to forget the things that are behind, and to press forward toward the prize of the high calling. Leaving behind the pressures and any harsh things spoken over them as a child that told them they would only amount to something unimportant. I want every woman and young lady to fully understand that God has a very important plan for their life and that plan includes blessing, prosperity and greatness!" -Shonda Tompkins '21

Shonda L. Tompkins was born on Thursday, July 27, 1967 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, during a time where her family was struggling to survive. She is the second daughter of a Air Force Airman (First-Class), retired pipefitter and a homemaker. Shonda was raised on the southwest side of Oklahoma City and her childhood is filled with memories where some were good and some not so good.

At the age of 18, on September 21, 1985, Shonda married David in a small church in Oklahoma City where they had both dedicated their lives to the Lord in 1982. She was an active servant in the church, working with the babies in the nursery, cleaning the church on Saturday nights and helping David mow the lawns on weekends. God began to propel Shonda into a deeper level of ministry in the new few years, preparing her for a global ministry that was in her future.

Shonda was called into ministry along the side of her husband in 1988 out of Oklahoma City. Their ministry has included opportunities as Evangelist, Youth Pastors, Missionaries, Co-Pastors and currently Shonda is a Certified Christian Counselor in the state of Oklahoma. Shonda also became an ordained minister with the Independent Assemblies in the state of Oklahoma in 2006.

She has received training from many mentors including her first pastor in Oklahoma City and experiences from Calvary Temple Church and Mending Hearts Church. But she attributes her successes to training received from visionaries at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Rhema Church (aka Kenneth Hagin Ministries) in Broken Arrow OK and Victory Church in Oklahoma City.

Shonda has had various opportunities to teach others about the Good News of Christ and how to walk in the love of God. These are just a few of the classes she has taught in ministry:

  • Raising Great Teens
  • Weight Loss and Staying Physically and Spiritually Fit
  • Beth Moore Bible Classes
  • Marriage and Healthy Relationships

Shonda has ministered in Women’s Conferences and Retreats around the world yet she humbly acknowledges that without God in her life, none of these things would have been possible. The Commission of God has become a major part of Shonda and her family’s life. Over the past 34 years, she has ministered in 21 different countries to literally thousands of people. Asia, Africa and North and South America have become the heart of her outreaches.
